Our History

The roots of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home date back to 1937, when Minter Funeral Home was established in Blakely, Georgia, operating from the residence of H.E. and Birdie Lou Minter on River Street. In 1951, J.T. Manry—an Early County native and graduate of John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science—joined the firm.

In 1955, J.T. and his wife Frannie Manry purchased the business and relocated it to South Main Street, renaming it Manry-Minter Funeral Home. That same year, Blakely native Billy Joe Jordan joined the staff and later became a licensed funeral director after completing mortuary school.

As the funeral home continued to grow, Mr. Manry purchased land on Lucile Road and constructed a new facility, moving operations there in April of 1970. The firm was renamed Manry-Jordan Funeral Home to reflect the continued partnership and leadership.

Over time, additional licensed professionals joined the business, including Danny Hodges and Steve Manry, further strengthening the firm’s commitment to professional excellence. The funeral home was later incorporated as Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, continuing a proud tradition of service that remains focused on families and community care today.
