Wilson Earl Jones, a beloved resident of Blakely, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on Monday, July 21, 1941, Wilson lived a life marked by dedication to his family, community, and faith.

Earl retired as the General Manager of Georgia Telephone after over 42 years of service, where he was respected for his leadership and commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional achievements, he found joy in raising and training dogs and competing in field trials, a hobby that brought him much satisfaction and connection with nature.

A devoted original charter member of Southside Baptist Church, Wilson was actively involved in the church community, including The Builders Sunday School Class. Over the years he served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Trustee. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and relationships.

Survivors include his loving children, Cheryl Jones Gleaton (Gary) of Blakely, GA, and Randall Earl Jones (Lisa) of Prairieville, LA. He was a proud grandfather to Jessica Lynn Gleaton (Dustin Mock), Hannah Kirby (Denton), and Caroline Pultz (Matt), and a cherished great-grandfather to Levi Merritt, Waylon Merritt, Jack Kirby, and Keller Kirby. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Racheal Kelly Jones, and brother, Tommy Floyd Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, with Rev. Dennis Singletary officiating. Burial will follow in Blakely Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather and share memories.

Serving as pallbearers are Sam Clinkscales, Jack Tedder, Fred Forsee, Lamar Willis, Chris Sumner, Cleve McFay, and Gerald Howard. Honorary pallbearers include Roscoe Nash, Georgia Telephone Employees and The Builders Sunday School Class of Southside Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that honorariums be made in Mr. Earl's honor to Southside Baptist Church, PO Box 644 Blakely, GA 39821, reflecting his lifelong commitment to his faith community.
