Virginia Collins Willis, a beloved resident of Blakely, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on Wednesday, August 3rd, 1927, in Blakely, Virginia spent her entire life in the Colomokee Community, living in the same home that she was born in.
A devoted homemaker, Virginia was self-employed, dedicating her life to her family, church, and community. Her commitment extended beyond her home as she actively participated in various organizations. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), held leadership roles in the Women's Missionary Union (WMU), and was involved in the Girl's Auxiliary and 4-H. Virginia also contributed her time as an election poll worker and was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. Her unwavering dedication to her church, family, and community left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Virginia was preceded in death by her devoted spouse, Winfred Vincent Willis, her loving parents, Jasper Guy Collins and Mary Elizabeth Bowman Collins, and her siblings, Rebecca Dennis, Evelyn Bruner, Jessie Collins, and William "Bill" Collins.
She is survived by her three children: Penny W. Stover (Ron) of Brookings, SD; Homer Willis (Lawana) of Enterprise, AL; and Wendy Willis (Eve) of Blakely, GA. Virginia was a cherished "Nana" to Scott Stover (Deb), Amy Willis, Suzanna Willis, Nicole Willis (Chazz Williams), Joshua Willis (Sunshine), and Summer Willis (Jeremy Still). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Erin Stover, Hope Stover, and Vincent Willis Still.
The family will receive friends during a visitation at Colomokee Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service celebrating Virginia's life will follow at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. TJ Bennett and Rev. Bill Hart. Interment will take place at Colomokee Cemetery.
Pallbearers honoring Virginia's memory include Terrell Collins, Jimmy Bruner, Larry White, Chazz Williams, Jeremy Still, and Ronnie Willis. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Willis, Michael Willis, Tim Willis, Verna Sammons, Larry Enfinger, Tom Kennedy, Ronnie Balkcom, Wayne Balkcom, Jack Tedder, Chris Brookins, and Carolyn White.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the Lucy Hilton Maddox Memorial Library, 11880 Columbia Street, Blakely, Ga, 39823. Virginia was an avid reader and loved visiting the library!
Arrangements are entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Virginia Willis will be remembered for her unwavering faith, love for her family, and dedication to her community. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
