Syble Hayes, age 92, of Blakely, GA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born on February 10, 1934, in Blakely, Syble lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lovick Craft and Carrie Lee White Craft; her brothers, Sonny Craft and Cecil (Buddy) Craft; her husbands, Jim Cashwell and Ben Hayes; her daughter, Linda Hayes Williams; and her son-in-law, Bobby McDonald.
Syble leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Terrye Edmondson (Roger), Roger Cashwell (Kristin), and John Hayes (Jessica). She was a proud grandmother to Kelly McCarley, Wendy Everson, Christie Presley, Michael Cashwell, Alex Cashwell, Ian Hayes, and Bleu Hayes, as well as eight beloved great-grandchildren.
Syble’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and dedication. Throughout her life, she worked as a seamstress, cashier, and devoted farm wife, always giving her best in everything she did. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church for more than 20 years, where she formed many lasting friendships and faithfully served her community.
Known for her active spirit and genuine love for people, Syble never met a stranger. She especially enjoyed spending time visiting with her dear friends at Willow Wood, where her sweet spirit and warm smile brought joy to so many. Her kindness, laughter, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, at Blakely First Assembly of God Church. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jerry Murkerson officiating. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the service.
Her family finds comfort in the many precious memories she leaves behind and the lasting example of compassion and love she shared throughout her life.
