Ruby Nell Murkerson

March 18, 1931 — November 11, 2020

Mrs. Ruby Nell Murkerson, 89, of Blakely passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, November 11, 2020, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, AL.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2020, in the chapel of Manry-Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home with Rev. Sterling Jones officiating.Interment will follow at White Plains Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00, prior to the service.

Mrs. Ruby was born in Columbus, GA on March 18, 1931 to the late Homer Franklin and Carrie B. Mulkey Hand.She retired from Brew-Schneider Manufacturing Co. where she worked as a seamstress for over thirty years.Gifted with a green thumb, Mrs. Ruby enjoyed her flower gardens and also had a deep appreciation for music which she passed on to her family.She attended Blakely First Assembly of God and was especially proud of her beloved family.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Murkerson Reynolds (Wallace) of Dothan; her two sons, Rev. Jerry Murkerson (Deborah) of Blakely and Dr. Larry Murkerson (Lynne) of LaFayette, GA; four granddaughters, Amanda Logue of Bainbridge, GA, Susan Menke of Piedmont, SC, Jana Bearden (Andrew) of Lawrenceville, GA, and Faith Pinnell of Americus, GA; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Sizemore and Vivian Walton, both of Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Preston Murkerson, along with three sisters and five brothers, Margaret Barfield, Dorothy Smith, Carolyn Cook, Homer, Jr, Raymond, Wilbur, Waymon, and Danny Hand.
