Robert Truman Turner

Robert Truman Turner, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on February 25, 1953, in Donalsonville, Georgia, Robert was a cherished member of the Blakely community, where he resided for many years.

After completing his degree at the age of 54, Robert was a dedicated Lock Operator for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was the proud owner of Robert Turner Small Engine Repair for over 35 years in downtown Blakely and was a Snapper Dealer during that time. He had also previously worked at the local paper mill. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft, Robert was respected and admired by colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond his professional life, Robert had a passion for beekeeping. He found joy in working with honey bees and took great pleasure in providing fresh honey to his family and friends. His generosity and love for nature were evident in this cherished hobby.

Robert is survived by his children: Travis Turner (Lisa) of Tifton, GA; Lori Naramore Watkins of Blakely, GA; Douglas Turner of Dothan, AL; Clayton Turner of Blakely, GA; and Mason Turner of Blakely, GA. He was a proud grandfather to 14 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 8 great-grandchildren. Robert is also survived by his siblings: Judy Taylor (Fulton) of Richmond, VA; Rhonda Gosch (Gunther) of Deland, FL; Sue Williams of Vidalia, GA; and Jerry Turner (Brenda) of Gulf Breeze, FL. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins who will fondly remember his kindness and warmth.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Truman Fletcher Turner and Georgia Louise Turner, who instilled in him the values of hard work and family.

A private service will be held at a later date to honor Robert's life and legacy. Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.
