It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Dwight" Spurlock, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Dwight passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at the age of 72, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born on Sunday, March 14th, 1954, in Blakely, Georgia, Dwight was the cherished son of the late Damon Robert Spurlock and Laura Taliaferro Spurlock. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Spurlock.
Dwight dedicated his life to serving his community and his country. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before embarking on a 30 year career as a long-haul 18 wheeler truck driver. He then served the U.S. Post Office as a rural postal carrier until his retirement. His dedication and commitment to his work were admired by all who knew him.
Dwight was a gifted storyteller who brought laughter to everyone. He had a way of captivating a room with his humor and quick wit and his stories seemed to get better each time he told them. He was an avid fisherman who loved being out on Lake Eufaula and loved his friends who fished alongside him.
As a member of the Arlington Baptist Church, Dwight found joy and fellowship. He was also a proud Mason and Shriner, contributing to various charitable causes and embodying the spirit of brotherhood and service.
Dwight is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Robin Lisenby Spurlock, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Eric C. Eubanks (Merrie Beth) of Lookout Mountain, GA, and Rocky Dwight Spurlock (Hannah) of Iron City, GA. His grandchildren, Evan, Lauren, Hannah, and William Eubanks, along with Hendrix, Blake, and Magnolia Spurlock, will forever cherish the memories of their beloved "Papa."
He is also survived by his sisters, Brenda Ingram (Ronnie) and Sue Ingram (Alan), both of Iron City, GA, who will miss their brother dearly.
A visitation will be held at Arlington Baptist Church on Monday, July 6th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, officiated by Dr. Van Power. Dwight will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Arlington, GA, with the dignity and respect he so richly deserves. Pallbearers will include Kent Cheney, Mike Bonner, Wayne Peel, Mack Washington, Donald Thompson, Walt Pierce, Jimmy Megahee, and Jerry Harrell.
Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.
