Robert Sammons

Robert Deal Sammons, 79, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on November 7, 2016 in Selma, Alabama.He was born July 4, 1937 to Floyd and Altea (Sirmons) Sammons in Blakely, Georgia.
Mr. Sammons is preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, and mother of his children, Christine Chambless Sammons; his brother, Roger Sammons, and two grandsons, Jamey Addison and John P. Martin.

He is survived by two daughters, Denise Abrams and her husband, Michael of Decatur, AL. and Donna Hornung and her husband, Robert, of Athens, AL., and a son, Johnny Addison of Bessemer, AL; and a brother, Verna Sammons and his wife, Vivian of Blakely, and two sisters, Carol Chester and Gloria Martin, both of Blakely, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He is remembered as a charming, easy-going man who was generous to a fault and never met a stranger.He leaves behind a legacy of love, for his family, for his friends and most importantly, for God, and although they grieve his passing, they are comforted in the knowledge that being away from the body means he is at home with his Lord.

Although he had not lived in the Blakely area for many years he will be remembered by many of his Blakely friends, family and classmates.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Colomokee Baptist Church in Blakely, Ga, officiated by his cousin, Dr. jack B. "Jackie" Sammons of Canton, NC.The Reverend T. J. Bennett, pastor of Colomokee Baptist, will bring the invocation.Memorials donations can be made to Colomokee Baptist Church, 2222 Colomokee Church Road, Blakely, GA39823.
