Rev. Melvin Ray Moody, 92, died Sunday evening, May 22, 2016, at his residence. His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11 AM at New Light Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Hanna officiating. Burial will follow in the New Light Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely, Ga. The pallbearers will be added later. The pallbearers will be Terry Etheridge, Barry Cook, Tim Burch, Jerome Phillips, Sammy Moody and Bobby Paul.

Rev. Moody was born Dec. 2, 1923 in Morgan, Ga to the late Dall Moody and Bama Aycock Moody. He was retired from the Marine Base in Albany, Ga. with 30 years of service and also was a retired Minister, having served many churches in 50 years of service to the Lord. He was also a member of the Morgan Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Simon Moody.

His survivors include his wife: Vaudene Williams Moody of Morgan, GA, 2 sons: Monterey R. Moody and Carole of Leesburg, GA, Steve Moody and Karen of Harker Heights, TX and a daughter: Connie S. Dixon of Leary, GA. There are also 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
