Raymond "Shorty" Smith, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on Monday, July 8th, 1941 in Damascus, Georgia, Shorty lived a life full of hard work, love, and dedication to his family and community.

Shorty was a self-employed logger and a commercial mullet fisherman, known for his strong work ethic and passion for the outdoors. His love for nature and the simple joys of life were evident in everything he did. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children: Pam Smith White, Kelly Smith, Cynthia Smith Covington, Jody Smith and Christy, Ronnie Smith, and Brent Weeks and Millie. Shorty was a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Shorty is also survived by a special friend, Jim Jerrells.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Madison Smith and Mary Eunice Smith, and his siblings, Perry Goolsby, Rita Smith, Charlie Smith, and Jack Smith.

A graveside service to honor and celebrate Shorty's life will be held at Blakely Cemetery in Blakely, Georgia, on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects .

Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, who are honored to serve the Smith family during this difficult time.

Raymond "Shorty" Smith will be remembered for his dedication to his work, and his enduring spirit. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
