Niek Betten

February 20, 1984 — October 17, 2024

Niek Betten, 40, of Blakely, passed away on Thursday, October, 17, 2024. Niek was born in Enschede, The Netherlands February 20, 1984. He moved to Blakely, Georgia in 2012. He worked at Sears for several years, meeting and befriending much of the local community. He was presently the Parts Manager at Southern Agcom Inc. Niek was a happy, friendly man who brightened the lives of everyone he met. He was a helper and would aid anyone in need, no matter what kind of problem they had. He enjoyed working with computers, reading, and collecting action figures (mainly Ninja Turtles and Ghost Busters). Niek was also a great handyman who could fix practically anything. Niek was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by so many, much more than words can say. Niek is survived by his wife, Savannah McArdle Betten; his parents, Theo and Hannie Betten; his sister, Marjan Betten and nephew, Demyen, and niece, Aimee. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Shirley Ellis McArdle; brother-in-law, Seth McArdle and Josie; sister-in-law, Cimelia McArdle and niece, Quinn; father-in-law, Todd McArdle and Joan. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, 2 PM, October 25, 2024 in the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, Blakely, GA, with Rev James Scarborough and Rev. Mylan Brookins officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, an account has been set up a Georgia Community Bank to help Savannah, or please donate to an animal-based charity of your choice or donate blood in his name. Niek felt very strongly about supporting both.
