Mary Christine Cook

Christine Todd Cook, a beloved resident of Edison, GA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29th, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on Monday, June 15th, 1925, in Edison, GA, Christine lived a life full of love, service, and devotion to her family and community.

A dedicated homemaker and a familiar face at the local ladies clothing store, she also enjoyed her time working for Shepard Oil in Leary and Earl Taylor Chrysler Dodge. Christine was known for her warmth, kindness, and great work ethic. She enjoyed in her spare time, quilt making and gardening, she had quite a green thumb. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her dedication to her family and faith. As a cherished member of Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church, she spent many years contributing to her community and nurturing her spiritual life.

Christine is survived by her loving children: her sons, Derrell Avera and his wife Becky of Edison, GA, and Barry Cook and his wife Sondra of Edison, GA; her daughters, Charlotte McLendon of Blakely, GA, and Joy Butler of Albany, GA. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love and family will continue to thrive through them.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sibley Watson Todd; her mother, Mary Lizzie Todd; her beloved husband, Earnest Cook; her brother, Carlton Todd along with two little brothers.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation at 1 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 3rd, at Mars Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.
