Martha Ann Glass, a beloved resident of Leesburg, Georgia, formerly of Blakely, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the age of 90. Born in Blakely, Georgia, on October 30, 1934, Martha Ann lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.
Martha Ann was a devoted bank teller at First State Bank in Blakely, Georgia, where she worked diligently until her retirement. Her warm smile and kind demeanor left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Beyond her professional life, Martha Ann was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Blakely, where she found joy and fellowship among her church family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Urquhart Glass; her parents, Idus Lewis Jones and Edith Jones; her brother, Lewis Jones, Jr.; and her great-grandson, Branson Urquhart Powers. Martha Ann's legacy continues through her daughter, Denise Glass Johnson, and her husband, George, of Leesburg, Georgia; her grandchildren, William Denton Powers and Robert Colby Johnson, along with his wife, Meagan; and her great-grandchild, Miles Colby Johnson. She is also survived by her siblings, Clarence Jones and Judy Howard.
Martha Ann's life will be celebrated with a funeral service at the First Baptist Church of Blakely on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. EST. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., allowing family and friends to gather and share memories of a life well-lived. Officiate for the service will be Dr. Josh Posey.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin Glass, Ashley Jones, Jody Glass, Michael Hicks, Chris Hicks, Jay Glass, and Don Williams, Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Glass, Ed Gilbert, and Ronnie Ashley, who all held a special place in Martha Ann's heart.
Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, ensuring that Martha Ann's final journey is one of dignity and respect.
