Lorraine Todd Durham, a beloved resident of Fort Gaines, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, at the age of 83 at the home of her daughter, Debbie Barnes. Born on Monday, November 3rd, 1941, in Meriwether County, Georgia, Lorraine lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family and community. She was reared in the Lone Oak Community but lived most of her life in Clay County.
A graduate of Hogansville High School in Hogansville, GA, Lorraine was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to nurturing her family and serving her community. She was a cherished member of Bluffton Baptist Church, where she served the Lord in numerous roles over the years, including WMU Director, Sunday School Teacher, and Church Treasurer. Her unwavering faith and commitment to her church family were evident in all she did.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Jack Durham; her parents, George Wooster Todd and Doris Daniel Todd; and her sisters, LaVerne Blankenship and Nellie Jane Todd. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her surviving family: her daughter, Debbie Barnes (Keith) of Headland, AL; her sons, Joel Durham of Fort Gaines, GA, and Loren Durham (Cindy) of Geneva, FL; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica Barnes, Sarah Barnes, Lauren Barnes (Ryan Merrill), and Joshua Durham; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and Lorraine's Caregivers, Mary Ann Corder, Linda Townsend, and Heather Daniels for the love and care shown to Lorraine.
A funeral service to celebrate Lorraine's life will be held at Bluffton Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025, at 11:00 am. Rev. Michael Williams will officiate the service, with Dr. Garrett Bennett also speaking. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Lorraine will be laid to rest with the support of her pallbearers: Hud Gay, Patrick Shivers, Ryan Merrill, Chad Brooks, Matt Bruner, and Mark Hubbard. Interment will be in the Bluffton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Lorraine's memory to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home or the Bluffton Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, causes that were dear to her heart.
Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Lorraine's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
