Elizabeth W. Adkison, a beloved resident of Blakely, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9th, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on September 29th, 1935, in Hartford, Alabama, Elizabeth lived a life marked by dedication to her family, faith, and community.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife to her late husband, Othar R. Adkison, and a cherished mother, granny, and great-granny. She is survived by her son, Keith Adkison (Rita) of Martinez, GA, and her daughter, Sheila A. Sumner (Chris) of Blakely, GA. She leaves behind a legacy through her five grandchildren: Rebecca Pierson (Brandon), Melissa Adkison, Christopher Sumner (Caitlin), Catherine Sirmans (Kyle), and Chandler Sumner (Brenna), as well as six great-grandchildren: Addison Pierson, Ava Pierson, Darrell Sirmans, Waylon Sirmans, Audrey Sumner, and Aaron Sumner. Elizabeth is also survived by her sister, Frances W. Gordon of Blakely, GA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, W.R. Wall and Lucile Posey Wall, as well as her beloved spouse, Othar R. Adkison.
Throughout her career, Elizabeth dedicated her skills as a bookkeeper, contributing her talents to Blakely Freezer Locker and Perkins Family NAPA Auto Parts. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her faith. A longtime member of the First Assembly of God, Elizabeth served as a Sunday School teacher, sharing her wisdom and compassion with those around her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Elizabeth's life at a funeral service on Monday, September 14th, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Manry- Jordan- Hodges Funeral Home, officiated by Tommy Wright. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the same location. Pallbearers honoring Elizabeth's memory include her grandsons Christopher Sumner, Chandler Sumner, Kyle Sirmans, Brandon Pierson, nephew, Craig Gordon, and her son Keith Adkison.
