Judy Lanell Cooper

Judy Lanell Cooper, a beloved resident of Blakely, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13th, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on Wednesday, May 17th, 1944, in Blakely, Georgia, Judy lived a life dedicated to the service of others.

Judy was a retired social worker with the Department of Family and Children's Services, where she spent many years providing care and support to families in need. Her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact on the community she served.

A true animal lover, Judy was a devoted supporter of the Blakely Animal Shelter, where she spent much of her time advocating for the welfare of animals. Her kindness and generosity extended beyond her professional life, touching the lives of both people and animals alike.

Judy is survived by her loving sister, Patricia Taliaferro, and her sister-in-law, Sandra Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Ivey Cooper and Juanita Cooper, her brother, Ben Cooper, and her brother-in-law, Lester Taliaferro.

A graveside service to honor Judy's life will be held at Blakely Cemetery in Blakely, GA, on Friday, October 16th, 2026, at 11:00 am. The service will be officiated by Dr. Alex Howell. Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Blakely Animal Shelter, c/o City of Blakely, in memory of Judy's lifelong passion for animal welfare.

Judy Lanell Cooper will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her community, her love for animals, and her warm and generous spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
