John Godwin

February 6, 1953 — March 19, 2021

John Godwin, 68, of Blakely, GA passed away at his residence on Friday, March 19, 2021, following an extended illness.

John was born in Quincy, FL on February 6, 1953 to the late Fred and Addie Ingram Godwin.He was a graduate of Dougherty High School and studied computers in college.He retired in 2010 as a Chief Forest Ranger with the Georgia Forestry Commission, Blakely.John was a member of Springfield Baptist Church in Jakin and enjoyed fishing along with watching the Georgia Bulldogs and Braves play.In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim & Dan Godwin.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Watford Godwin; three daughters, Monica Jennings (Kevin) and their daughter Bailey, Shannon Jackson and her three children, Tyler Broxton, Devontay & NeNe Bell, and Kelly Godwin and her three sons, Robert, Shaun, and Draydon Staubitz; an aunt, Bessie Strickland (Charles), and a special niece and nephew, Kim Fowler and Kevin Godwin.
