On November 28, 1961, Jimmy married his high school sweetheart, Jane Britt Wasdin, and in February of 1962, he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served for two years.
Jimmy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His family includes his wife of 64 years, Jane Britt Wasdin, his daughter, Beth Wasdin, his son, Jim Wasdin (Bebi), and his granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Wasdin.

Deeply rooted in his community, Jimmy was a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of First Methodist Church of Blakely. In 1973, he established Wasdin Builders, a family business that continues to operate more than fifty years later under the leadership of his son Jim. Outside of work, Jimmy was known for his love of fishing and the peace he found within the city he had always called home.
Jimmy will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence and the way he made everyone feel welcome when he entered a room. He played a meaningful role in guiding many young men toward employment and supported them as they began their journey into adulthood. His kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family and community will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
