Jack Lehmon Winkler Sr., a cherished resident of Blakely, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27th, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on Thursday, November 30th, 1939, in Orlando, Florida, Jack moved to Miller County, GA, in 1945 to live with his beloved Aunt Rene and Uncle Curt McCorkle, who raised him with love and care.
Jack was a proud graduate of Miller County High School and dedicated his professional life as a Convenience Store Supervisor until his retirement. He was a man of integrity and hard work, known for his warm smile and generous spirit.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, June Sims Winkler, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. Together, they built a loving family, including their children: Rebecca June Winkler of Cobb, GA; Susan Carole Winkler Peacock and her husband Ron of Americus, GA; and Jack (Jay) Lehmon Winkler, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Blakely, GA. Jack was a proud grandfather to Mary Beth Peacock, Curtis Peacock and his wife Aimee, all of Americus, GA, and Will Winkler and his wife Arianna, Austin Winkler, and Andrew Winkler, all of Blakely, GA. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: JB Greene, Cutter Greene, Cash Greene, Tyler Peacock, and Charleigh Peacock. Jack also leaves behind a special family friend, Chad Chapman, who was like a son to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie L Winkler and Mary LouNell Winkler, his beloved Aunt Rene and Uncle Curt McCorkle, and his brother, Charles Glenn Winkler.
A memorial service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at the Blakely Church of Christ on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Gentiva Hospice, 432 E Shotwell Street, Bainbridge, GA 39819, or Heritage Inn Retirement Center, 14901 River Street, Blakely, GA 39823.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, who have provided compassionate care and support during this time.
Jack Lehmon Winkler Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his deep faith. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
