Hershell Gervice Milner Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25th, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on Sunday, August 11th, 1946, in Edison, Georgia, Hershell spent his entire life in the community he cherished.
Hershell proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Sacramento, where he developed a lifelong love for the open road. This passion led him to a fulfilling career as a commercial truck driver with Estes Trucking. Even after his retirement, Hershell continued to indulge his love for driving by working with local farmers several months out of the year.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Hershell and Dot Milner, his devoted wife of 46 years, Patricia Milner, and his son, Terry Tabb. Hershell's legacy lives on through his children: Scott Milner (Christin) of Edison, GA, Gary Milner (Mandy) of Bridgeboro, GA, Danny Milner (Jennifer) of Worth County, GA, Adrian Owens (Todd) of Alto, GA, and Tammy Farmer (Keith) of Morgan, GA. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Milner and Brenda Weathersby (Jack) of Dickey, GA.
Hershell was a proud grandfather to Scotty Milner (Hannah), Easton Milner, Kaydi Milner, Ashley Powell, Lindsey Beauchamp (Joey), Brooke Milner, Blake Milner, Griffin Owens, Emma Smith (Jacob), Jesse Owens, and Maegan Prater (Chris). He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His loyal furry companion, Pepper, was always by his side.
A visitation will be held at Dickey Presbyterian Church in Edison, GA, on Friday, May 29th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Walter Smith. Pallbearers will include Scotty Milner, Jr., Easton Milner, Joshua Milner, Griffin Owens, Rae Nunez, and Wesley Webb.
Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Hershell will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and his unwavering love for the open road. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
