Harold Mercer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29th, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on January 30th, 1937, in Colquitt, Georgia, Harold was a cherished resident of Blakely, GA, where he spent the majority of his life surrounded by family and friends.

Harold was a dedicated employee of John Deere, where he worked as a Parts Clerk until his retirement. His commitment to his work was matched only by his dedication to his country, having served honorably in the United States Army.

A man of faith, Harold was an active member of the Cedar Springs Free Will Baptist Church, where he found joy and community. His life was a testament to his strong values and unwavering kindness.

Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Edna Patricia Mercer, who was his steadfast partner and the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family, including their children, Cynthia Fisher (Frederick) of Tallahassee, FL, and Stanley D. Mercer (Regina) of Albany, GA. He was a proud grandfather to Kyle Fisher, Cassie M. Foss (Jeremy), and Daniel Scott Mercer (Shelby), and a doting great-grandfather to Lilly Foss, Liam Foss, Jasper Lee Mercer, and eagerly awaited the arrival of twin great-grandsons.

He is also survived by his siblings, Fleda Snow of Macon, GA, and Roy Mercer of Brunswick, GA. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Whittle Mercer and Gladys Temples Mercer.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Harold's life at a funeral service on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Manry Jordan Hodges Funeral Home, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Harold's memory to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society, causes that were close to his heart.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, who have provided compassionate care during this difficult time.
