Gene "Frankie" Tye

Gene "Frankie" Tye, a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17th, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on Monday, November 6th, 1961, in Donalsonville, Georgia, Frankie was a cherished resident of Damascus, GA, where he spent his life surrounded by family and friends.

Frankie was a dedicated roofer, carpenter, and millwright, known for his hard work and commitment to his craft. His skills and dedication were admired by many in the community. Beyond his professional life, Frankie attended Damascus Baptist Church, where he found solace and strength.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Ann Varnum, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. Frankie also leaves behind his cherished mother, Geneva Love Tye, and his brother, Melvin Tye, who shared countless memories and moments with him. His legacy continues through several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, all of whom will miss his warmth and kindness.

Frankie was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Frank Tye, whose memory he held dear throughout his life.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 12:00p.m. at Damascus Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
