Edna Merle Brown, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated nurse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, at the Early Memorial Nursing Center in Blakely, Georgia. She was 80 years old.
Born on April 24th, 1945, in New Hope, Alabama, Edna was the cherished daughter of the late Edward Floyd Bynum and Alice Louise Bynum. She was preceded in death by her son, Austin Wayne Brown, and her brother, Gus Grant, Jr.
Edna dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for many years. Her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients and their families.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, William "Wallpaper" Brown, and their loving children, William Scott Brown (Wanda) and Joyce Gail Temples, all residing in Blakely, GA. Edna was a proud grandmother to James Tommy Temples, Stephanie Nicole Taylor, William Brandon Temples, and Jacob Austin Brown, and Brent Scarborough (Kim). Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Abby, Allison, Waylon, Piper, Lulu, Jude, Emersyn, Emmalin, Trevor, Paxton and Abbie, and her great-great-grandchild, Georgia Kate.
Edna is also survived by her brother, William Floyd Bynum (Joy) of Ft. Walton, FL, and several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A visitation will be held at Sowhatchee Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am, officiated by Rev. Hubert Smith. Interment will follow at Pine Lawn Gardens. Pallbearers will include Jacob Brown, Tommy Temples, Brandon Temples, Terry Ailstock, Waylon Taylor, and Trevor Ailstock.
Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home. Edna's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.
Edna Merle Brown will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her profession, and her kind and gentle spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
