Cena Loback Carswell went to Heaven on August 1, 2016 at the age of 93. She was a resident of Carmon Oaks in Lake Oswego, OR.

Cena was born in Blakely, GA to the late Chester Howard Loback and Lucile Middleton Loback. She developed a love of nature, beauty, and the arts early in life. She attended Bessie Tift College (now Tift College) in Forsyth, GA, transferred to the University of Mary Washington in Virginia and gradated in 1944. She married the love of her life, "Buddy' Harold Alex Carswell in 1942. They were married 68 years. Cena taught elementary school and piano while her husband completed his medical training.They settled in Santa Barbara, CA in 1958. In 1983 they moved to Oregon to enjoy retirement.

She was a devoted wife and mother, an accomplished pianist, a creative seamstress and gardener, and excellent cook, and an inspiring mentor of many in her life.She enjoyed singing in the church choir and quilting.Her recreational passion was tennis, which she played for many years.She followed her favorite tennis players faithfully on the Tennis Channel, and could always tell you was winning every tournament. She was best-known for her persevering determination and positive outlook in the face of life's challenges. She could always be counted on for practical advice in complex situations.Her cheerful smiles and laughter gave her a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.

Other than her parents, Cena was preceded in death by her husband, "Buddy" Harold Alex Carswell. She is survived by her daughters, Camille Richardson of Hillsboro, OR, Christine Glenda Turner of Augusta, GA and Bonita Carswell Wasson of Silverdale, WA; 5 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service to celebrate Cena's life will be held at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, Lake Oswego, OR on August 27, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Blakely, GA in the family plot next to her husband's grave. A special note of thanks goes to all who graciously assisted Cena and her family.
