Carolyn Ruth Cooper, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on September 17, 1943, in Alabama, Carolyn was a beacon of kindness and wisdom to all who knew her.
Carolyn pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Florida State University. She dedicated most of her teaching career to nurturing young minds at Southwest Georgia Academy, where she was cherished by students and colleagues alike.
A devoted member of the Edison Baptist Church, Carolyn's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her commitment to her community and her family was unwavering, and she touched countless lives with her generosity and compassion.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, James Monroe Cooper III, and her daughter, Carrie Cooper Pierce (Kiki Thomas) of Edison, Georgia. She was a proud grandmother to Sealy Stuart (Matt) of Arlington, Georgia. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Fielding Eugene Rambo and Estelle Melissa Rambo, and her infant daughter, Sealy Rambo Cooper.
A graveside service to honor Carolyn's life will be held at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00 am. Rev. Keith Gaines and Dr. Van Power will officiate the service. Arrangements are being handled by Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Homes and Family Ministries in Carolyn's memory at www.georgiachildren.org/ . Carolyn's legacy of love, education, and faith will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and the community she served so well.
