Billy Lewis, 90, of Damascus, Ga. passed away late Sunday night, February 17, 2019 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Ala.A graveside funeral service will be Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Crossroads Cemetery with the Rev. Buren Womble officiating.

Mr. Lewis was born in Early Co. to the late Ina Billings Lewis and Emory Lloyd Lewis, Sr.He grew up in Damascus and graduated from Damascus High School where he excelled in basketball and track.After graduation, he attended Georgia Military College on an athletic scholarship.He was a farmer, a livestock market news reporter for 34 years, and an avid golfer.An an active member of Damascus Baptist Church, he served as church treasurer for nearly 40 years.Preceding him in death, other than his parents, was his wife, Jimmie Cooper Lewis; a son, Michael D. Lewis; a sister, Annis Lewis Henderson; and a brother, Emory L. Lewis, Jr.

Survivors include his daughter Dyan Lewis Jarrett and Ray, Blakely, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jed Jarrett and Rachael, Bonaire, Ga., Jami Lewis-Bryce and Robert, Ochlocknee, Ga., Jenna Lewis Watson and Eddie, Colquitt, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Parker Jarrett, Logan Jarrett, Jackson Horne, and Jadyn Watson; a sister, Eunice Lewis Lilly, Orange City, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Judy McMullen, Donalsonville, GA; Sister in law, Faye Lewis, Blakely, Ga., and brother-in-law, Tyner Cooper and Mary Jean, Blakely, Ga.
